GUIDELINES FOR PROSPECTIVE AUTHORS

The Co-Inquiry Journal http://www.coinquiry.org/ explores innovative approaches for improving early childhood education (ECE) at all levels (including infant and toddler, preschool and kindergarten through third grade programs), teacher preparation, professional development and leadership.  We are interested in submissions that deal with problems of practice, related research and current perspectives. The Co-Inquiry Journal is published by Semiotic Concepts.

The Co-Inquiry Journal is dedicated to encouraging partnerships and dialogue among scholars and practitioners through its unique format. To further develop ideas in the manuscript and provide examples from practice, authors are invited to include multimedia documentation with their submission. These materials will be posted on the Co-Inquiry Blog (see description below).

For example, you might submit:

  • Documentation of children's work or learning experiences discussed in the article.
  • Related documentation from educational settings that illustrate ideas presented in the article.
  • Selected video or audio clips from the early childhood classroom to illustrate principles or teaching practices that are discussed in the article.
  • Reflections of teachers, parents, children and others connected to the experience in the article recorded in text, podcast or video comments or interviews.
  • Questions inviting readers to participate in discussing ideas contained in the article and/or by commenting on documentation or contributing their own documentation.
  • Commentaries, reflections and/or documentation by colleagues and others including experts, scholars, teachers who have similar areas of interest.

The Co-inquiry Blog http://www.fanslerece.org/ is intended to stimulate the interchange of ideas among educators as well as expand the possibilities for presenting research, illustrating concepts and demonstrating practices using documentation. The Co-Inquiry Blog is hosted by the D. Paul Fansler Institute for Leadership in Early Education and the Joyce M. Huggins Early Education Center.

In collaboration with the Fansler ECE Institute, the Co-Inquiry Blog encourages web-based discussion or “co-inquiry” among readers, authors and journal editors who participate by contributing their own comments, questions, analyses, suggestions and links concerning the articles and documentation related to the Co-Inquiry Journal.

Interested educators, ECE students, programs and schools may apply for their own password-protected blog with the understanding that the use of the website is strictly monitored and for educational purposes only (see “Co-Inquiry Blog” for details concerning the agreement for use).
